A Month of Thanks - Day 5 - My Job

I’m one of the only people I know who is doing the thing they went to college for. When I was about 15 I looked at my high school orchestra director and decided “this is who I want to be when I grow up” and every day I get to do it. I often joke that I’m “living the dream” but in reality, I kind of am.

I had the pleasure of conducting the NH Junior All-State Orchestra last year. A high point in my career for sure - I remember being a student at this event!

Not every day is perfect. And there are days when I feel frustrated. But 95% of the time I am so thankful to be in a place where I love to go to work. I can’t picture myself doing anything else.

Last spring I got to take my students (with the band, chorus, and colorguard) on a trip to perform in Philadelphia, PA. We did a performance on a battleship!

November is one of my favorite times of year. It’s getting cozy and we aren’t yet in the thick of the Christmas season quite yet. I’m thinking about the ways I’m thankful and would love for you to join me. Comment below or use the hashtag #amonthofthanks
