A Month of Thanks - Day 18 - ASP

A Month of Thanks - Day 18 - ASP

When Dominic started public school last year we were so thankful to get a spot in the Before and After School Program. Coordinating childcare is a big challenge for two working parents, especially when work starts super early and you don’t live super close. Luckily this program opens at 6:30am and we have coverage until 6:00pm. We don’t usually use all of that time, but it’s nice to know it’s there.

Dominic gets a fun, safe place to play before and after school! Mornings consist of some chill time - sometimes LEGOS, Battleship, and they get to burn off a little energy in the gym before “whole school recess” (which is an amazing thing!). Afternoons he gets to play outside on the playground and get outdoor time before I get him. In the winter, even though he’s usually one of the first kids to get picked up, it’s still starting to get dark by the time we get home.

This year, one afternoon a week, I started making a date with myself at a coffee shop where I get a bunch of computer prep work done for work. I’m so thankful to have access to this program. Dom is usually disappointed to see me at pick-up because he wants to keep playing. And on the mornings I am on vacation and he gets to get dropped of at the bell in the drop-off line, he’s usually disappointed he missed out on ASP. I don’t get offended by either of these things - I’m just happy he likes it!

November is one of my favorite times of year. It’s getting cozy and we aren’t yet in the thick of the Christmas season quite yet. I’m thinking about the ways I’m thankful and would love for you to join me. Comment below or use the hashtag #amonthofthanks
