My Decorating Buddy

It was a September afternoon, and Zachary was taking a nap. Dominic was 5 years old and we decided to pass the time by decorating the house for fall. In our basement we have a bunch of storage bins with seasonal decorations. Dominic was thrilled at the chance to go in the basement with me to get the fall bins, and he was overjoyed to help decide where all the decorations should go.

This started a new thing that Dominic loves to do. Decorate!

As the seasons and holidays change, we pick a day and decide to decorate together. He gets really into it. It’s such a fun thing for us to do together! This is one of those innocent activities I love that he loves. I hope it continues for a long, long time.

He sometimes puts things in whacky places, but we usually come to an agreement.

And if we don’t, I wait until he’s not paying attention and move things around. Most of the time he doesn’t notice, but sometimes he does and continues to “fix” things throughout the season.
