Swimming

Swimming

This weekend, rather spur of the moment, Dominic got invited to a pool party. He’s still young, and we like the other parents (a lot), so the whole family went. So I got to float in a heated pool for several hours and watch the kids play and have a blast.

Dominic loved ths slide and basically did that the entire time. He started off doing it with friends, but when they moved on to other things he kept going on the slide. This is something I admire a lot about Dominic. He loves to play with other kids, but if he has something he wants to do, he won’t stop just because his friends are doing something else. They eventually came back and everyone played together. It makes me so happy to see him socialize with a friend group.

Last summer Zachary hated being in a pool. We’d get 15 minutes out of him maybe if he was in a good mood. I’m pleased to say he was completely in love with it this weekend. He was in for about 3 hours and gave us a hard time when we had to leave. He jumped off of the step in his little swimmy. He had a great time and wanted to paddle around without holding my hand.

And Dennis and I got to socialize with the other parents (while being in the pool watching the kids). It was a good weekend all around!

We are so thankful to be a part of this new community. I think back on a year ago at this time and there was so much up in the air. We were about to move out of our house, we were going to be squatting with our parents for July and then living in a hotel until our house was finished. It’s nice to look around now and see how our lives have settled. Dominic has friends, and we’ve made new friends. The kids love school and I’m excited to have a nice, normal summer after all the insanity in our lives last summer.
