Happy Halloween!

This is one of my favorite holidays. I love the time of year, and all things spooky (spooky, not scary!). I look forward to taking my kids out to trick-or-treat. This year both Dom and Zach had those inflatable costumes - Dom is a character from Fall Guys and Zach is a chicken.

October 31 and November 1 also mark the pagan holiday Samhain (pronounced SOW-in). It is believed that this is when the veil between the living and the dead is at its thinnest, so it’s a time to remember and honor ancestors and loved ones who have left us. Kind of a solemn holiday.

I don’t really believe that, but I love reading about Samhain because it’s interesting to see how so many modern Halloween traditions stemmed from this pagan holiday. Everything from Jack-o-lanterns (originally carved turnips), trick-or-treating, and mischief making all come from ancient Samhain traditions.

I hope you all have a safe and spooky day!
