A Love Letter to November
November is one of my favorite months.
The weather is cold but not cold enough for a heavy winter jacket. The holidays are around the corner but not quite here yet. There’s something about it that’s especially cozy. It makes me want to bake banana bread for the kids to have for an after school snack. It makes me want to curl on the couch with a book. It’s the time of year when we clean out the garage, put away the patio furniture, cut down the perennials in the garden. We are preparing.
The earth is settling down and going to sleep for awhile.
In addition to being cozy, there’s something about November that makes me want to recommit. Maybe it’s knowing the end of the year is approaching. I know this year in particular, we had a few things happen over here that got me thinking about my physical and mental health.
It put a few wheels in motion.
What would my life look like on November 30 if I exercised every day? If I did yoga every day? If I committed to making the time to read every day? These things are all good for my mental health. Yoga in particular. The exercise is something I’ve been doing pretty consistently for quite a few years now, but not necessarily every day.
So I’m settling in. Taking some time. Making my health a non-negotiable priority. And leaning into all my favorite parts of November.
