Exercise is getting me through

Exercise has really been getting me through these days.

After we began to shelter in place, spent a week or so without exercise and eating food that was bad for me. It didn’t help my stress. It didn’t help my anxiety. It didn’t help my motivation or organization. It didn’t help anything.

So I bit the bullet and contacted a guy I went to high school with who is a coach for BeachBody. I signed up for BeachBody on Demand and am now starting my second program. I did 21 Day Fix. I didn’t miss a day (I even took the “doubles option” and did double workouts the third week). Now I’m in the fifth week of 80 Day Obsession.

I feel amazing. This has become a regular part of my day. I make time for it, every day (unless it’s a scheduled rest day). I have been less stressed and feel more organized. This was the best decision I’ve made for myself in quite some time. I’ll continue after we’re “back to normal” (what’s that even going to look like?).

I set up a workout area in the basement.

Most days (4 days during the week) I get up at 5:30 and head down to the basement and do my thing. i come upstairs and feel like a million bucks - my workout is done, I’m full of those exercise endorphins, and I can typically have my coffee in peace because my family is still in bed. The days I exercise in the late morning, I let the kids come downstairs with me and play in the basement. They think it’s a blast. And they come over and try to do the exercises alongside me. Dom is an early riser, so he knows if it’s a weekday morning he can come downstairs and play and I’m in the basement working out. On some level, I know that they see me - let’s be real, the kids see every. single. thing. we. do. - and I’m showing them how to be healthy.

I’ve lost weight. I’ve lost inches. But most important, I feel strong. My knee pain is lessened because I can use muscles in my leg instead of my knee.

I feel good about this!

What’s your exercise routine? Does it help you keep your sanity? If you’re interested in BeachBody, I can highly recommend it. This is not an ad - just sharing something I found that’s making a difference in my life. But if you want more info, let me know because I’ll connect you to my contact person.
